Welcome to McCordsville

Custom executive homes and a tranquil, halcyon environment pair up to make this tiny town the fastest-rising suburb in the Greater Indianapolis Area.

The bucolic scenery and rural character of McCordsville lay the foundations for the city’s irresistible charm. Sweeping fields and quiet neighborhoods denote the peaceful ambiance of McCordsville, which draws in families with its great schools and serene way of living. Here, residents can feel set completely apart from the commercial bustle of bigger city lifestyles, while not being so far away as to no longer enjoy the convenience of urban amenities.

McCordsville is set northeast of Indianapolis, just south of the Geist Reservoir. It's bisected by US-36, which takes residents straight into the heart of Downtown Indy in under 30 minutes. Though the town has developed many modern attributes since it was first platted in 1865, the appealing, small-town charisma has remained exactly the same.

Recently, McCordsville has seen a rise in the creation of desirable, single-family homes, and is considered the fastest-growing suburb in Hancock County. A variety of architectural styles and plans exist for these new-build, premium homes. If potential buyers aren’t satisfied with the range of contemporary Craftsman houses and traditional, two-story American options, they also have the opportunity to custom-build their own dream homes.

What to Love

Local Lifestyle

Life in McCordsville is meant for relaxation and peace. Residents of the town don’t want a tumult of commercial busyness or tons of shopping in their backyard — they want a haven from the world, within easy reach of entertainment. Luckily, McCordsville more than delivers, and locals can rest assured that the same calm that’s graced the town for over a century will continue well into the future.

Dining, Entertainment, & Shopping

While McCordsville itself isn’t an epicenter for retail, its residents do have the perk of living less than 20 minutes away from Indiana’s largest mall: The Castleton Square Mall. Home to more than 130 retailers, this massive shopping center is well-equipped to handle an entire day of browsing.

McCordsville has its fair share of foodie-approved restaurants, including Traxx BBQ located just off US-36. This lively, mom-and-pop eatery specializes in tempting homestyle fare and a collection of signature Carolina-style barbecue meats. Near the town’s northern border, Goodfellas Brick Oven Pizza has a menu of both old-world and traditional pizza options, in addition to a hearty selection of pasta and other classic Italian cuisines.

Next to the soothing waters of Geist Reservoir, Pearl Street Pizzeria & Pub radiates with friendly, neighborhood warmth. The restaurant’s handmade, Neapolitan pizzas are incredibly creative, and diners rave over the impressive list of local microbrews. Heading out towards Fortville, the FoxGardin restaurant is revered for its rotation of top-shelf spirits and menu of elevated comfort cuisine.

Things to Do

In addition to its superb restaurants, McCordsville also carries a reputation for its outstanding breweries and wineries. Daniel’s Vineyard, for example, is a phenomenal spot for tasting signature red and white wines straight from the cellar. Along with this, the location is known as a lovely wedding and private event venue.

Daniel’s Vineyard often hosts its own events, too, which can range from stand-up comedy shows and live music performances to dining experiences in their unique outdoor, insulated igloos during the winter. Wine connoisseur? Daniel’s has a Cellar Club that offers exclusive access to both events and special, hand-picked bottles of wine.

Taxman Brewery is technically located in Fortville just minutes away, but many McCordsville residents tend to see the hip, engaging venue as part of their own community. Part taproom and part brasserie, the Fortville location of Taxman is replete with delicious New American cuisine sourced from the freshest local ingredients.

Schools

McCordsville is home to a number of excellent schools. Top educational opportunities include:

  • Mount Vernon Community School Corporation, a highly-rated public school district serving grades PK & K-12, ranked among the top districts in the county
